Venus rising

We went to the first day of Wimbledon. Got there at 7:30 am to queue for ground passes. You have to sleep out overnight to get some of the tickets left for court 1 or centre court (all other tickets are balloted out earlier in the year) so we had no chance of getting these. Got into the ground at 11:30 am.

Watched Nicole Pratt fall to the British number 1 girl on an outside court. Wandering around later we were stunned when an older couple walked up to us and handed us their Court 1 tickets. We went in and found oursleves in the 2nd row! Watched Venus Williams win her match, then we watched 3rd seed Coria of Argentina Vs Wes Moody of South Africa.

Play stopped at 20:45 when the light started to fail, so we retired to a pub for some grub and to watch England beat Switzerland at UEFA Euro 04. A nice day really.

Oh yeah.. and bad luck to Pooey losing to Henman last night, but bring on a Hewitt Vs Henman final!

I want to see Henman lose just to shut-up the biased BBC commentators. You'd think Henmen was hitting up against a brick wall when he played Pooey last night. There was another player on the court!

Hope you don't mind but I found your site by chance whilst surfing in my lunch break and spent ages looking at all your great pictures and postings!

I am a proud Englishman (maybe not of our sportsmen)and like you have travelled far and wide and just wanted to congratulate you on your great site, what a way to remember your travels! I just wish I had been so creative and did the same. The pictures are so clear and sharp, and it must have taken you ages to do it all?

Once again congratulations on a great site and wish you all the best for your future together!

Regards
Charles Turner
PS Chaweng beach is as I always will remember!!

Where did you get the Aussie flag Aimee?- this was very patriotic of you. Going into Centre court was a very memorable occassion , it was a unique opportunity never to be forgotten.

Well done!!!

Love ya,

Mum (Jan)
